Dylan on the G Train
Ok, I’m the first guy to roll my eyes..
at the imho kinda silly, hipster-y, pseudo folky monikers that seem to be de rigueur in the contemporary music landscape.
Aly Spaltro is a perfectly good, and in fact far more interesting name than Lady Lamb The Beekeeper (again, imho), and will undoubtedly hold up much better in decades to come when such handles will pretty likely become embarrassingly dated.
(She has apparently cut it down to just Lady Lamb these days).
But she’s young, and can easily be forgiven this minor lapse of far-sightedness.
Regardless, Ms. Spaltro has demonstrated an awareness of substantive music knowledge pretty well absent in about 99% of her contemporaries by covering the yodel-y, early era Dylan staple “All I Really Want To Do” (off of 1964’s Another Side of Bob Dylan).
And as intentionally jangly 60’s throwback as it is (seems this is a cover of Cher’s cover version), Lady Lamb’s is unquestionably sweet.

I agree name change is somewhat unnecessary but I watched some of her other videos and absolutely love her sound. Especially in this generation of music. Refreshing!
what a voice for someone so young! is she really as young as she looks, or am i just getting old? haven’t heard that song in a long time and forgot that Cher even covered it many years ago! it’s classic Dylan covered by a new generation with an appreciation and respect for the classic sound of vinyl! nice find…and thanks for sharing!
Great find. Loved it.
Great cover of a cover. Love Dylan. Love lady lamb, though she looks like girl lamb in the video. But her voice does sound mature. Classic and sweet. Thumbs up
Interesting trend. Has Joan Baez’s mini – me shown up yet? Powerhouse of a voice though and quite womanly voice from such a young looking person. It gave her a doll-like quality in that video.
